Milo

The background was based on the colour scheme from Picasso’s Spanish Woman from Majorca (1905), the subject was the wonderful artist Milo Moire, known more for her performance art and use of her body in her artwork, her skizzen (sketches) are interesting and her paintings are fantastic.  It felt really natural and fun to use the palette knife and I’ll be working more with a palette knife in the future, probably on wood panel.  This is part of an appreciative commentary on someone who is asking some important paradoxical philosophical questions across Europe with her body and her mind.

Last oil painting of the season for me, sketches to follow, and i’ll post another picture when the oils are more dry in a few weeks time.

It has been an incredible year in England, the sad passing of David Bowie which took many weeks for Londoners to mourn, Magna Carta – all four being in the same place for the anniversary, Shakespeare’s anniversary and now Brexit.  Somehow it felt like the correct final painting to make for this year.
